Core to the success of Kubernetes has been its ability to bring control patterns to traditional IT environments. Applying control mechanisms to operating container packaged applications has shifted burden from application operators to the infrastructure. The power of this model results in applications achieving higher SLA levels, with lower overhead. An exciting trend emerging in the community is the application of these patterns both above Kubernetes in the application domain, and to managing the infrastructure that runs Kubernetes. We will talk about emerging efforts in the open source community to expand the boundaries of Kubernetes and reduce the complexity of managing both apps and infrastructure the Kubernetes way.
